Add background music or a sound effect
Supported audio file choices are MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, M4A and Opus. The files stay in their original locations, so keep them available for reopening and exporting.
New audio clips start at the beginning of the trimmed recording, even if the playhead is elsewhere. Move the block afterwards when you want a later start.
Dragging the left edge trims away the beginning of the audio as well as moving its start. Drag the middle of the block when you want to move the same sound without changing which part plays.
- Open Audio and choose Import audio files. You can select more than one file.
- Select a clip in the panel or on the timeline.
- Drag the audio block to change when it starts. Drag its edges to shorten it.
- Set its Volume in Audio, then play the recording and listen to the balance with your voice.
- Use Add more for another file, or the remove button beside a file to remove that audio clip.
Understand preview volume
The speaker control, M key and Up or Down arrow keys change what you hear in the editor preview. They do not remove or lower the original recording's audio in the exported video.
The Volume controls in Audio apply to the files you imported. They are saved for export. Values above 100% can amplify imported audio in the finished file, but the preview player caps playback at 100%. Use a short export to judge amplification.
If you need to remove or separately rebalance the original microphone and system audio, the current editor does not provide separate source-track volume controls. Contact support for help choosing a workflow.
Create captions from the recorded voice
Whisper processes the recording on your computer. The initial model download needs an internet connection and disk space. Once the model is available, generating a transcript does not require uploading your video to a transcription service.
Choose a smaller model if model loading or transcription is too demanding for your computer. Choosing the spoken language and providing names in Context hint can help with recognition.
Transcription reads the audio in the original video. Imported music or a voice file added in the Audio panel is not used as the transcription source.
- Open Transcript and choose the spoken Language, or Detect automatically.
- Choose a Whisper model and download it if the model manager says it is not installed.
- Optionally enter a Context hint with names or specialist words from your lesson.
- Set Max segment length for the length of caption sections. Use Auto if you want automatic segmentation.
- Choose Transcribe and wait for audio extraction, model loading and transcription to finish.
- Turn on Show subtitles and review every segment before sharing.
Correct words and remove unwanted captions
Changing a segment's text removes the original word-by-word timing for that segment. Its text still appears for the segment, but individual words no longer light up with the original timing.
Re-transcribe replaces the existing transcript with new results. Save a separate project version first if you want to preserve your manual corrections.
- Click a segment's timestamp to jump to that part of the recording.
- Click its text and correct any names, punctuation or mistaken words.
- Click outside the text to apply the change.
- Use Delete segment to remove a caption you do not want.
- Click the project name and save the project after your transcript edits.
Make captions readable
In Subtitle style, choose the font, weight, size and colors. Active color is used for words that have been reached; Inactive color is used for upcoming words when word timing is available.
Enable a Background for stronger contrast. Use Radius and Padding to adjust the caption box.
Choose Top, Center or Bottom, then adjust X and Y if needed. Leave room for the camera and check the placement again after switching to a square or vertical ratio.
Subtitles that are enabled are drawn into the exported video. Viewers cannot switch those captions off in a player. The current Studio editor does not provide a separate SRT or VTT export control.
If audio or captions are missing
If transcription stops without useful results, email [email protected] with the model, language, recording length and whether the original video has audible speech.
- No sound in preview: check the speaker control or press M, then check your system volume and the selected output device.
- Music disappears after reopening or export: check that the imported file still exists. Re-import it if it moved. Missing imported audio can be omitted from an export.
- Transcribe is disabled: wait for the model availability check, then download the selected model in the model manager.
- Model download fails: check the connection and free space, then retry. Save your project before closing the app.
- Transcription finishes without captions: listen to the original video. Silent audio has nothing to transcribe, and a video without a usable audio track cannot provide a transcript.
- Captions exist but are hidden: turn on Show subtitles and move to a time covered by a segment.
- Words are wrong: select the correct language, add a context hint or correct the text by hand.
- GIF has no sound: GIF is a silent image format. Export MP4 or WebM for audio.
