What I'm working on and what's coming next. I build Screenix alone so I move one feature at a time, but I ship consistently.
Beautiful preset backgrounds behind your recordings, like gradient meshes and abstract shapes. No need for a green screen or external tools.
Added 21 additional cursor themes to choose from, including new pointer, hand, text, and touch styles.
More control over the camera overlay: shape, border, shadow, corner radius, and position presets.
Import and edit audio tracks in the editor. Add background music, voiceovers, or sound effects to your recordings.
Export and upload recordings to YouTube, Dropbox, Google Drive, and more in one click. No manual uploads.
Available on the AUR. Install with yay -S screenix-bin. Tested on KDE Plasma Wayland.
Zoom mode controls have been simplified and made more intuitive with the new follow zoom effect.
Export your recordings as GIFs directly from the editor. Useful for quick demos, GitHub READMEs, and sharing on platforms that don't support video well.
Automatically transcribe your voiceover into text using local Whisper models. Fully offline, no data leaves your machine. Useful for generating subtitles or searching through recordings.
The floating screen effect and zoom have been reworked for a smoother, more polished look. Cleaner zoom transitions and better visual quality overall.
A dedicated Browse tab to find and open existing projects directly from the app. The Open Recording button now shows recent projects in a quick-access popup with video thumbnails.
Click visualization now works on both X11 and Wayland. Recordings on modern Linux setups can show mouse interactions properly.
If there's something you'd like to see in Screenix, let me know. I read every request and it directly influences what I build next.
