1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Screenix (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Screenix is a screen recording application designed for Ubuntu on X11. The Service includes desktop application software and web-based account management. All video recordings are stored locally on your device; we do not provide cloud storage for recordings.

3. User Accounts

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

4. Software License

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to download, install, and use the Screenix desktop application for your personal or business use.

Reverse Engineering Prohibition: You may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Screenix application, including but not limited to the .deb package or any other distributed binary format. This prohibition applies to all versions of the software, including trial, free, and paid versions.

5. Trial and Subscription Terms

We offer trial and free tier access to the Service with limited functionality. For these tiers, we store metadata about your recordings (such as duration, timestamps, and file size) on our servers to enforce plan limitations. Your actual video recordings are always stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.

Paid subscriptions provide additional features and higher recording limits. Payments are processed through Stripe and are subject to their terms as well.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others
• Distribute malware or harmful software
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the software

7. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.

9. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall Screenix or its creators be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Service.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes by posting the new Terms on this page with an updated date.
