Pick Screenix for Chrome if
- Most of what you record is a web app, a website or a SaaS dashboard
- You'd rather pay once than renew every year
- You also record on a Windows or Linux machine
- You want the video rendered while you record
Screen Studio is now subscription-only. If what you record lives in a browser, Screenix for Chrome gives you auto zoom, a smooth macOS cursor and a webcam bubble on your Mac for a single payment.

Which one fits
Why people look for an alternative
Screen Studio set the standard for polished product videos on the Mac. Since October 2025, new customers can only subscribe, and the app won't export without an active plan. For people who record a few demos a month, that's $108 a year for occasional use.
If those demos happen in a browser, Screenix for Chrome covers the parts that make Screen Studio videos look good: zooms that follow your clicks, a smoothed cursor with motion blur, a webcam bubble and a framed background. You pay $19 once to remove the watermark.
Made for macOS eyes
Screenix records the page without your system cursor and redraws a crisp macOS Tahoe-style arrow, or the dark variant, at any size. It glides between positions, bumps on clicks and fades when you rest, so the result looks like it was made on a Mac, even if you recorded it somewhere else.
The limit
Screenix captures the Chrome tab in front of you and follows you to other tabs in the same window. It doesn't record the rest of your Mac. That's what lets it hide the real cursor and draw a perfect one, but it means Screen Studio stays the better choice for anything outside the browser.
What you get
The cursor, rebuilt
Screenix records the page without your system cursor, then draws a crisp macOS-style one in its place, with spring smoothing, click bumps, motion blur and a soft fade when you stop moving. 16 cursor themes, all adjustable.
Add to ChromeAuto zoom
Screenix zooms in on every click and pans with the cursor, so viewers see what you did without squinting. Keep the automatic zooms or move, resize and add your own on the timeline.
Add to ChromeCamera and audio
Add your webcam as a bubble you can drag anywhere, round or square, with your microphone and the sound of the tab you started on.
Add to ChromeFollows your tabs
Open a link, jump to another tab or reload the page. Screenix keeps recording whichever tab is in front in the same window, so a whole flow fits in one take.
Add to ChromeKnow before you install
Screenix for Chrome records the tab in front of you, so it can draw a perfect cursor over pure page pixels.
Screenix captures the page in the tab you're on, at full quality, without your system cursor.
Switch tabs, open links or reload in the same window and the recording keeps going in one take.
Your mic and camera record throughout. Page sound comes from the tab you started on.
It doesn't capture your desktop, other apps or other windows. On Linux, the Screenix desktop app does.
