Which one fits
Same names, different meaning
Both products use the words Instant and Studio. In Cap, Instant mode uploads while you record and gives you a link, and Studio mode is local recording in the desktop app.
In Screenix for Chrome, Instant mode renders the finished, polished video locally while you record, zooms and cursor included. Studio mode opens the recording in the editor inside the extension. Neither needs an upload.
Scope
Screenix records the tab in front of you and follows you to other tabs in the same window. If you need full-screen recording, Cap's desktop app covers Mac, Windows and Linux, and the Screenix desktop app covers Linux.
What you get
Auto zoom
Screenix zooms in on every click and pans with the cursor, so viewers see what you did without squinting. Keep the automatic zooms or move, resize and add your own on the timeline.
Add to ChromeThe cursor, rebuilt
Screenix records the page without your system cursor, then draws a crisp macOS-style one in its place, with spring smoothing, click bumps, motion blur and a soft fade when you stop moving. Seven cursor themes, all adjustable.
Add to ChromeFollows your tabs
Open a link, jump to another tab or reload the page. Screenix keeps recording whichever tab is in front in the same window, so a whole flow fits in one take.
Add to ChromeFrom stop to sent
With a Screenix yearly or team plan, upload from the editor and copy the link. Viewers watch in any browser and can leave timestamped comments. Without one, export MP4 or WebM up to 4K, free.
Add to ChromeKnow before you install
Screenix for Chrome records the tab in front of you, so it can draw a perfect cursor over pure page pixels.
Screenix captures the page in the tab you're on, at full quality, without your system cursor.
Switch tabs, open links or reload in the same window and the recording keeps going in one take.
Your mic and camera record throughout. Page sound comes from the tab you started on.
It doesn't capture your desktop, other apps or other windows. On Linux, the Screenix desktop app does.
