The built-in tools are great for a quick capture of anything on screen. Screenix only records browser tabs, but makes them look edited.

Step by step

Record your browser on Windows

  1. Step 1

    Add Screenix to Chrome

Install it from the Chrome Web Store and pin it to the toolbar. No Windows installer, no admin rights.

  2. Step 2

    Pick your inputs

In the popup, turn on your microphone, webcam and tab audio, and choose Instant or Studio mode.

  3. Step 3

    Record

Click Start recording or press Alt+Shift+R. Switch tabs, open links and reload freely; the recording follows you.

  4. Step 4

    Export or share

Press stop. Instant mode has the MP4 ready; Studio opens the editor so you can adjust zooms, trim and crop first.

Why a browser recorder

Most demos on Windows happen in Chrome anyway

Product demos, onboarding videos, website walkthroughs and bug reports are mostly recordings of a web page. A Chrome extension captures those without installing desktop software, which matters on locked-down work laptops where you can't run installers.

Because Screenix records the page instead of the screen, it can leave out your Windows cursor and draw a smoother one, zoom in on clicks and frame the result on a background, the look that Mac-only apps like Screen Studio made popular.

Know the scope

What it won't record

Screenix doesn't capture the Windows desktop, File Explorer, games or desktop apps like Excel or Visual Studio. For those, use Snipping Tool, Xbox Game Bar or a desktop recorder such as OBS. If you need Screen Studio-style effects for desktop apps on Windows, see our list of Screen Studio alternatives for Windows.

What you get

Every detail of a good demo,
handled for you.

Auto zoom

Zooms that follow your clicks

Screenix zooms in on every click and pans with the cursor, so viewers see what you did without squinting. Keep the automatic zooms or move, resize and add your own on the timeline.

Add to Chrome

The cursor, rebuilt

A cursor that looks animated by hand

Screenix records the page without your system cursor, then draws a crisp macOS-style one in its place, with spring smoothing, click bumps, motion blur and a soft fade when you stop moving. 16 cursor themes, all adjustable.

Add to Chrome

Camera and audio

Your camera, exactly where it belongs

Add your webcam as a bubble you can drag anywhere, round or square, with your microphone and the sound of the tab you started on.

Add to Chrome

Follows your tabs

Switch tabs and the recording comes with you

Open a link, jump to another tab or reload the page. Screenix keeps recording whichever tab is in front in the same window, so a whole flow fits in one take.

Know before you install

Tabs only,
and it follows you between them.

Screenix for Chrome records the tab in front of you, so it can draw a perfect cursor over pure page pixels.

Records browser tabs

Screenix captures the page in the tab you're on, at full quality, without your system cursor.

Follows you between tabs

Switch tabs, open links or reload in the same window and the recording keeps going in one take.

Tab audio from the first tab

Your mic and camera record throughout. Page sound comes from the tab you started on.

Not your whole screen

It doesn't capture your desktop, other apps or other windows. On Linux, the Screenix desktop app does.
